NOVELLA BOKKACHCHO V RUSSKOJ I SHVEDSKOJ VERSIYAH XVII VEKA

 

This article examines alterations and remakes of the ninth novelette of the second day of «The Decameron» by Boccaccio in the XVI-XVII centuries in Europe. The connection of the Russian alteration, namely the narrative «About the merchant, who made a bet on his wife’s virtue», with the Polish alteration, written by Bieniasz Budny, has already been studied thoroughly. Thus, in this paper the concern is with the attempt to compare the Slavic remakes of the novelette with the Swedish remakes of the first half of the XVII century.

VAVILON U PUSHKINA

 

The article deals with all cases of the use of the words «Babylon», «Tower of Babel», «Nimrod», «the flood» in poetry and personal records of A. S. Pushkin. It has been established that in the period from 1815 to 1826 Pushkin introduced biblical Babylonian stories in context of humorous parody, and in 1827-1833 he made them a part of his philosophy of history. Particular attention is given to the true Sumerian-Babylonian prototypes of biblical stories with the mention of Babylon.

This article aims at specifying the date of A. S. Pushkin’s letter to N. M. Yazykov (1831) with annotations concerning one especially tricky place. The letter is studied in terms of a wide literary context.

K INTERPRETACII STIHOTVORENIYA E. BARATYNSKOGO «CHEREP»

 

The article investigates the poem by E. Baratynsky «The scull» as compared with its two earlier editions and with its probable sources: the poems by G. G. Byron «Lines Inscribed On a Cup Formed From Scull» and «Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage», the tragedy of W. Shakespeare «Hamlet» and works of Russian followers of E. Young (S. Bobrov and S. Shikhmatov). The article observes the influence of the contemporary critiques of «The scull» on the further editing of the poem.

ROMAN A. A. BESTUZHEVA-MARLINSKOGO «VADIMOV» I SISTEMA POETICHESKIH ZHANROV PERVOJ TRETI XIX VEKA

 

This article reports about the unfinished novel of A.A.  BestuzhevMarlinsky «Vadimov» in the context of the literary tradition, presenting the events of 1812. On the material of lyrical texts several discourses are released, one of them is the basis of the official mythology of the Patriotic War of 1812. The selecting one or the other tradition is explained by the author’s views on the poetics of the novel genre.

It is the first time when some fragments of the incomplete article by Veltman named «Thoughts about original literature» are introduced for scientific use.

The article deals with the history of publication of Saint Cyril of Turaw’s prayers by N. Leskov and compares the proofreading marks of the reprints of «The Orthodox Interlocutor», a theological journal, from the writer’s personal library and the final published issue of the prayers collection.
